Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Destined to Meet in the Ring
by Phillip Sukke in Bleacher Report
Much has been made of the fiasco that is the formerly Mar. 13 fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Who would have thought it was not money that which these two sides disagreed on, but Olympic-style blood testing, which should have been cited given the nature of performance enhancers in sports today and certain accusations made by one side against the other during negotiations.

It was perhaps a bit ironic that on Wednesday the media day for Manny Pacquiao took place at the Wild Card Boxing Club, followed by the Mayweather-Mosley press conference at LA Live on Thursday. Just my two cents, but judging by the buzz, I think the fight that takes place on May 1st is overshadowing the fight that takes palce next week at Cowboys Stadium.
I wanted to comment on an incident that happened earlier today. I was at the press conference for Mayweather/Mosley at NOKIA Live in Los Angeles, Thursday March, 4, 2010.
Yesterday was Media Day at the Wild card Gym in Hollywood. That meant that Freddie Roach’s gym, the home of current P4P king Manny Pacquiao was overrun with media types from all over the world.
It is so easy to be lost in Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s rhetoric when it comes to his animosity towards Manny Pacquiao, as well as to anybody who he feels contradicts his points of view. At first, we thought that he had some valid points with regards to his arguments, and many could easily be persuaded to toe his line of thinking. Sooner or later, we came to realize that all his accusations and contentions were merely based on conjectures and flawed reasoning. If we would just look deeper and beyond the words we would understand that in reality, Mayweather’s assertions has no leg to stand on.
Late last November, I was asked what I thought of the highly anticipated Floyd Mayweather—Manny Pacquiao fight, likely scheduled for March of 2010.
The drug accusations are again coming thick and fast toward pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao, and as usual the Mayweather clan are at the forefront.
The Mayweather’s starring the still undefeated and former pound for pound king Floyd Jr. and the supporting cast composed of Dad Floyd Sr., Uncle Roger and Uncle Jeff are making the rounds of boxing town, harping “Who in his right mind would refuse a $25 million test?” or I’ve never seen a man who would refuse a $25 million drug test.”
Trainer Freddie Roach says WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao wants a piece of Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the worst way. Pacquiao wants to pay Floyd back for all of the comments the Mayweather clan had made that attacked his characted by connecting him to performance enhancing drugs.
Los Angeles (February 17) – Welterweight superstars Floyd “Money” Mayweather and “Sugar” Shane Mosley are hitting the road to announce their May 1 mega-fight showdown with stops in New York City, Washington, DC and Los Angeles. The press tour will reflect the magnitude of this highly competitive and much-anticipated face-off between two of boxing’s biggest superstars.
MANILA, Philippines – The world’s best pound-for-pound fighter made a prediction on the outcome of the May 1 fight between Americans Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Shane Mosley.
In a bombshell interview at East Side Boxing’s On the Ropes online program, trainer Freddie Roach revealed that this could be the last fight for his fighter World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. Roach says “If Mayweather doesn’t come and fight us next time, this [Pacquiao-Clottey] could be our last one.” Roach is obviously speaking only of Pacquiao, because I can’t see Roach retiring anytime soon.
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – Floyd Mayweather has done the math, give or take a tablespoon or two, and that has left him even more baffled than he was before at the demise of his much-anticipated fight with Manny Pacquiao.
DALLAS, Texas – The stars came out for the Lone Star State for the 59th NBA All Star Game last Sunday (Monday morning in Manila). Celtics legend Bill Russell, hip-hop mogul P. Diddy, comedian Chris Tucker, rapper Drake, Knicks die-hard Spike Lee and actress Gabrielle Union dotted the glitzy landscape. During the game, another star quietly entered Cowboys Stadium. He strolled with his entourage and looked for his VIP seat.
